Day 11 – Marquette to Mackinac Island

Easy, somewhat boring ride. Started on Lake Superior, ran along Lake Michigan, and ended at Lake Huron. All of the lakes were breathtaking, with wind-whipped whitecaps and sandy beaches.

Ferry over to Mackinac. Checked in. Met with Gail. Went for a walk through downtown. Stopped for a few drinks at various pubs. Chatted with locals and got a rec for dinner at the Yankee Rebel. Good, but not mind-blowing dinner. The locals seemed to rave about the Drambouie Scallops, but we found them a bit overpoweringly sweet. I had the walleye, since I hadn’t tried it yet and it seems like a local staple. Pretty tasty.

Off to the Pink Pony, where Paul threw money at the live artist to dive deep into his Grateful Dead collection.
